Quantum mechanical heat transport in disordered harmonic chains.
We investigate the mechanism of heat conduction in ordered and disordered harmonic one-dimensional chains within the quantum mechanical Langevin method. In the case of disordered chains we find indications for normal heat conduction, which means that there is a finite temperature gradient, but we cannot clearly decide whether the heat resistance increases linearly with the chain length. Further...
متن کاملDisordered Fermi liquid in epitaxial graphene from quantum transport measurements.
We have performed magnetotransport measurements on monolayer epitaxial graphene and analyzed them in the framework of the disordered Fermi liquid theory. We have separated the electron-electron and weak-localization contributions to resistivity and demonstrated the phase coherence over a micrometer length scale, setting the limit of at least 50 ps on the spin relaxation time in this material.
متن کاملPlasmon assisted transport through disordered array of quantum wires
– Phononless plasmon assisted transport through a long disordered array of finite length quantum wires is investigated analytically. Generically strong electron plasmon interaction in quantum wires results in a qualitative change of the temperature dependence of thermally activated resistance in comparison to phonon assisted transport. At high temperatures, the thermally activated resistance is...
متن کاملQuantum transport of disordered Weyl semimetals at the nodal point.
Weyl semimetals are paradigmatic topological gapless phases in three dimensions. We here address the effect of disorder on charge transport in Weyl semimetals. For a single Weyl node with energy at the degeneracy point and without interactions, theory predicts the existence of a critical disorder strength beyond which the density of states takes on a nonzero value. Predictions for the conductiv...
متن کاملQuantum transport through mesoscopic disordered interfaces, junctions, and multilayers
This study explores perpendicular transport through macroscopically inhomogeneous three-dimensional disordered conductors using mesoscopic methods (the real-space Green function technique in a two-probe measuring geometry). The nanoscale samples (containing ∼1000 atoms) are modelled by a tight-binding Hamiltonian on a simple cubic lattice where disorder is introduced in the on-site potential en...
